Our Mission
At Rooted Collaborative we want to apply best teaching practices that align with how we know kids learn and grow. We want to create a space and culture where children and families are thriving.
It is our desire that:

Students would be deeply rooted and grounded in their faith in Jesus Christ.

Teachers teach in such a way that children are equipped to learn across the disciplines and are inspired to continue learning throughout their lives.

Students would begin the lifelong process of discovering how God has uniquely designed them for His purposes.

This education leads to not only deep knowledge, but knowledge that leads to virtue, and virtue that leads to making a difference in the lives of others.
Purpose
Rooted Collaborative is a Christ-centered hybrid microschool designed to link arms with homeschooling families by providing guidance and an opportunity to learn in community while also allowing families to maintain the responsibility, ownership, and freedom of learning at home.
Our Educational Philosophy
We believe that children learn best in an environment where they can pursue their interests, take initiative, and have a sense of agency over their learning, be held accountable for that learning, and enjoy meaningful relationships.
Faith:
God is before all things, and in Him all things hold together! A personal relationship with God is the prayer and hope for every child in our school. The more we grow to know God, the more we love Him. Truths about God and His Word will infiltrate all that we teach with our actions and words. We pray knowledge of Him and experience with His people will lead to a deep love of Jesus.
The Teacher’s Role:
The teacher is a facilitator, a guide, and a mentor for the learning that will take place. He or she is a co-learner, not a disseminator of information. We will use the Socratic method of teaching as much as possible. Our teachers are coming alongside parents who are their child’s greatest mentor, teacher, and influencer in these early years of life and beyond.
Power of Quality Literature:
Our brains are literally changed through meaningful and inspiring stories. Good stories illustrate concepts and virtue in a way that nothing else can. Stories make history come alive and make it memorable. Good literature unites hearts as we fall in love with characters together and experience books in community! The classics hold special time-tested value, so there will be a focus on these books.
Power of Relationships:
Quality relationships are the foundation of learning. Culture matters. We will focus on building and strengthening the relationships between all the learners in our class (the teacher being one of the learners).
Applied Learning:
One of the most powerful ways for children to learn is through meaningful, real-life application. Students will learn to problem solve, plan, and carry through on projects that are meaningful to them. Applied learning allows for integration across all subject areas as well as social/emotional learning as they collaborate with other students.
Emphasis on Nature:
Being outside provides kids with rich sensory experiences, has been shown to decrease levels of depression, and inspires within a sense of awe and wonder that are necessary for deep happiness, curiosity, imagination, and ultimately a love and reverence for God.
Environment Matters:
Children learn best in safe, inviting, interesting environments.
A Note on Play:
Play is the primary method through which young children come to understand and learn about the world around them. We try to incorporate opportunities for kids to imagine, explore, and create. While our hybrid model does not allow for extended periods of play on school days, we do value children playing together and on their own when possible!
Specifics
Classes are made up of two grade levels with a maximum of ten students per class. Students will meet on campus two days a week- on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 2:30pm.
All parents participating will be required to sign a Family Agreement in which they consent to Rooted Collaborative’s mission and guidelines.
On campus days, students will meet to enjoy quality literature, learn how to communicate well orally and in written language, work on meaningful projects together and study subjects that are explored “better together” as opposed to independently.
On home days, students will have some follow up homework to prepare for the next campus day but will not be prescribed a full day of work. We want families to have the freedom to choose what is best for their children and family on the off days. We are happy to provide as much or as little guidance for these off days as the family desires!
